Our approach

The first FXB Foundation

From 1989 to 2019, the first FXB Foundation worked to promote the fields that have passionately fascinated François-Xavier Bagnoud: the love of the Alps and Valais, his professional commitment and his passion for aviation and space. It has also played an active role in defending human rights and promoting global public health.

Dissolved in 2019, the FXB Foundation left a legacy marked by its commitment and achievements.

Our Organization

History of the FXB Foundation

FXB's story began in 1986, when François-Xavier Bagnoud, a rescue helicopter pilot, tragically lost his life at the age of 24 on a mission to Mali. In 1989, his mother Albina du Boisrouvray, his father Bruno Bagnoud, and his family and friends created the François-Xavier Bagnoud Foundation (FFXB) to honour his memory. The FFXB has allocated and used its initial funds in areas that best reflect François-Xavier Bagnoud's personality and values. Half was allocated to the Association François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB), an NGO that has been involved for over 30 years in the fight against extreme poverty and social injustice. The other half was devoted to various initiatives, described below.
