The first FXB Foundation

From 1989 to 2019, the first FXB Foundation worked to promote the areas that fascinated François-Xavier Bagnoud: his love of the Alps and Valais, his professional commitment and his passion for aviation and space. It also played an active role in defending human rights and promoting public health worldwide.

Dissolved in 2019, the FXB Foundation has left a legacy marked by its commitment and achievements.

History of the FXB Foundation

The FXB story began in 1986, when François-Xavier Bagnoud, a helicopter pilot specializing in rescue, tragically lost his life at the age of 24 during a mission in Mali. In 1989, his mother Albina du Boisrouvray and father Bruno Bagnoud, along with family and friends, created the François-Xavier Bagnoud Foundation (FFXB) to honor his memory. The FFXB has allocated and used its initial funds in areas that best reflect the personality and values of François-Xavier Bagnoud. Half was allocated to the Association François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB), an NGO committed for over 30 years to the fight against extreme poverty and social injustice. The other half was devoted to various initiatives, described below.
