FXB Foundation - FXB Rescue House in Sion (Valais, Switzerland)
THE LOVE OF FLYING IN THE SERVICE OF RESCUE
François-Xavier Bagnoud expressed his two great passions - flying and helping others - through rescue. He dreamed of a place that would bring together, 24 hours a day, all those involved in rescue: helicopter pilots, flight assistants, mechanics, doctors, paramedics, mountain guides and avalanche dog handlers. The aim was to ensure rapid intervention adapted to each emergency situation.
In 1995, the structure he had imagined was created at Sion airport, and in 2001 Albina du Boisrouvray and Bruno Bagnoud inaugurated the Maison FXB du Sauvetage, which optimizes rescue operations in the mountains, on the road and with people in physical or moral distress.
In addition to rescue work, FXB is also committed to training the public and companies exposed to risks, thus contributing to accident prevention.
The Maison François-Xavier du Sauvetage belongs to the eponymous Swiss foundation. This extraordinary tool is made available free of charge* to the entity officially responsible for rescues in the central and lower Valais, helping it to achieve ever greater performance and safety in these magnificent acts of bravery and generosity that are rescues in general and mountain rescues in particular. Today, the Maison FXB du sauvetage is occupied by Air-Glaciers SA, whose founder and honorary president was Bruno Bagnoud, who passed away in 2023.
*Payment of the ground rent, utilities and building maintenance costs is the sole responsibility of the user.
