THE LOVE OF PILOTAGE FOR SAFETY
François-Xavier Bagnoud expressed his two great passions – piloting and self-help – through rescue. He dreamed of a place that brought together, 24 hours a day, all the actors involved in the rescue: helicopter pilots, flight assistants, mechanics, doctors, paramedics, mountain guides and avalanche dog drivers. Its objective was to ensure rapid and appropriate response to each emergency.
In 1995, the structure he had imagined was created at the airport of Sion and Albina du Boisrouvray and Bruno Bagnoud inaugurated in 2001 the FXB Lifesaving House, which makes it possible to optimize relief in mountains, on the road and with people in physical or moral distress.
Beyond the rescue, Maison FXB also engages in training the public and companies exposed to the risks, thus contributing to the prevention of accidents.
The Maison François-Xavier du Sauvetage belongs to the eponymous foundation under Swiss law. This extraordinary tool is put for free* to the entity officially responsible for rescues in the Central Valais and Lower Valais to help it achieve ever more performance and safety in these magnificent acts of bravery and generosity, namely rescues in general and in the mountains in particular. The FXB Lifesaving House is now occupied by the company Air-Glaciers SA, whose founder and honorary president was Bruno Bagnoud, who left us in 2023.
