Thailand

In 2009, an evaluation of Buriram's VillageFXB programme (click here to read the summary) led by Thaksin University, revealed that 100% of the young participants completed primary school and went to secondary school, while the national average for completion of primary school was 40%. In addition, the assessment found an increase in average income earned by participating families from 60 to 62 per cent, with more than 80 per cent of families continuing their income-generating activities. The evaluation concluded that the VillageFXB programme had been implemented effectively and "has considerably improved the living conditions of a large number of orphans and vulnerable children".
