Climate Initiative Focuses on Youth Ocean Activism
FXB USA, in partnership with Create 2030, will feature short ocean advocacy films created by youth climate activists in the Ocean Innovation Hub, an immersive and interactive digital platform for Sustainable Ocean Solutions as part of the United Nations World Oceans Week events.
On Friday June 12th, FXB Climate Advocates – a diverse group of high school-aged climate activists committed to protecting the planet – will screen their films and answer questions about their videos and discuss their activism.
“The Ocean can unite us all, and we are all connected to it in some way. In this way we should try and unite to protect it to not only protect the life it holds, but our own lives as well.”
-Harry Justice, 17 years old, New Jersey
This past May, FXB Climate Advocates attended a filmmaking workshop online led by Emmy-Award winning filmmaker and Create 2030 founder Lisa Russell. During the workshop, the students learned the power of storytelling as a tool for advocacy and techniques for effective impact. The goal of the workshop was to equip the youth with new skills that they can return to for future advocacy efforts. In the process, Climate Advocates expanded their knowledge about the many threats facing our world’s oceans.
