Promoting a culture of non-violence in Gaza

Context

The division between Fatah and Hamas has led to the suspension of the democratic process. The younger generation, which represents nearly 65% of the population of Gaza, has therefore never had the opportunity to participate in elections. It is essential to create a culture of nonviolence to equip young Palestinians to resolve their differences peacefully.

FXB in action

Albina du Boisrouvray, Founder & President Emerita of FXB International, has initiated a partnership with PalThink for Strategic Studies, an independent thinking and working group created in 2007 with the objective to carry out activities directed towards promoting, disseminating and strengthening the concept, culture and principles of non-violence within the Palestinian society, targeting the youths of Gaza who are key to a positive change in society.

The project trains local community educators and civil society organizations with the concepts and tools necessary to resolve social and political differences through peaceful means. It also disseminates the values of nonviolence in Palestinian society through specific publications and media. This project contributes to raising awareness among young people on all issues related to the culture of non-violence and empowering them to spread this culture in their communities.
