Sion – Centre Francois-Xavier Bagnoud
Born from Albina du Boisrouvray’s desire (Founder,Chair and President Emerita of FXB) to give people who wish to die at home the possibility to do so, the Foundation created the Centre Francois-Xavier Bagnoud (CFXB) for palliative care at home, healthcare facilities and support for people in later life.
From 1992 to 2009, the CFXB offered home palliative care to residents in Central Valais going through an irreversible stage of disease where curative medicine was ineffective. This service is part of a more global approach which combines daily nursing care along with psychological and practical support to both the patient and his or her family. Albina du Boisrouvray wanted to relieve the physical and mental suffering of the patients and their loved ones and it is with this in mind that she established bereavement groups. Hence, 800 persons were accompanied by the FXB Center’s team.
On January 1st 2010, the CFXB permanently ceased its activity. The whole experienced team and the countless skills it had acquired during 18 years joined the medical skills and palliative care center of the Valais Health Network.
