Project Mukti- a three year anti child trafficking initiative by FXB India Suraksha (FXBIS) was launched by Ms. Silvana Paternostro ED, FXB USA and Ms. Mamta Borgoyary, CEO, FXB India Suraksha on 24th January in Ukhrul district of Manipur. The launch was followed by the unveiling of the Mukti logo and successful stakeholder’s consultation including the local authorities represented by the District Commissioner of Ukhrul, religious organizations like the Tangkhul Theological Association, Hamreikhong, Ukhrul and the local media.

The day started with a welcome song by a group of children followed by a Key note address from Mamta Borgoyary, CEO, FXBIS. The Programme Manager (FXBIS) gave the guests the overview of the anti child trafficking project Mukti through Power point presentation. Ms Silvana Paternostro shared some inspiring incidents from her experience with the audiences. The day was called off as the kids presented the song and signs off for the day.

Ms. Paternostro also visited the FXBVillage in Imphal, Manipur where she met the women weavers & children from ‘Suraksha Education Center’. In her key address to the beneficiaries, Ms. Paternostro said, ‘Interacting with you all in the room which is full of strength, inspiration, opportunities and witness you all leading exemplary life…..Lets keep going together’.  During the interactive session Ms. Paternostro also unveiled the FXBIS calendar 2016. A panel discussion on the FXBVillage programme, Mukti launch and the issues addressed was telecast  live on the local Television channel in Manipur.

Conflict ridden Manipur has been vulnerable to trafficking both as a source and a strategic transit point for the criminal networks operating in the region. The FXBIS project includes a robust advocacy based approach. In pursuance of this Ms. Paternostro and Ms. Borgoyary interacted with the local media, wherein they drew attention to the causes of the vulnerabilities of the marginalized communities and their exposure to the criminal networks. They underscored the urgency of the situation and the immediate need for intervention in favor of the women and children in particular. The integrative approach of FXBIS Project Mukti combining elements protection and empowerment was widely covered and highly appreciated by the local stakeholders..
